BUPT Students Won Top Prizes in the 29th Annual International Mathematical Contest in Modeling for College Students

The Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP), the organizing committee of 29th annual Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM), announced the results on April 5th on its official website. Students of BUPT achieved outstanding results with two teams winning Outstanding Winner (the top prize), two teams winning Finalist (second to the top prize), 31 teams winning Meritorious Winner(first prize), and 92 teams winning Honorable Mention(second prize). This result marks a new record in both the number of winning teams and the levels of the awards since BUPT first organized students to participate in MCM. This result also excels among other China’s top universities such as Peking University (two Outstanding Winners) and Tsing-Hua University (one Outstanding Winner).


The 29th Annual Mathematical Contest in Modeling started at 8:00am on February 1st and ended at 8:00am on February 5th, 2013. 6593 teams representing institutions from thirteen countries participated in the contest. BUPT organized 226 teams in total including 143 from the Schools on the main campus, 12 teams from School of Software Engineering, and 71 teams from the International School.


The University would like to express congratulations to all winning teams, their Schools and appreciations to all supervisors from BUPT Innovation Center for Mathematics and Physics.
